The story of Radio Esperans is quite remarkable. It began with the simple idea of extending the reach of ministry via radio. I had lived in the metro Atlanta region for a while and realized that Haitians, in particular, were not being served adequately in that respect. I sought the Lord in prayer and the answer could not have been more dramatic or clearer: Jer. 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” That verse came to me during prayer and meditation. I immediately recognized it as a message of hope but not necessarily meant for me alone. Deep within me, I have always nurtured a special appreciation and sensibility for the elderly, the poor, the hurt and the lonely. That verse was for them! The message of hope was going to be our foundation and the radio would carry its name: ESPERANS.

Reassured by God’s approval, I went to work seeking a few brave souls to take off with me on the journey.

Our beginnings were humble indeed. We began in the Spring of 2013 as an internet radio and would come to appreciate many great lessons in patience, determination, and persistence. I remember celebrating the day we documented having 10 listeners! But we never lost hope, relying instead on passages such as Job 8:7 “Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be…” We kept believing in God’s promises and He, in turn, kept remaining faithful. We faced a myriad of challenges but made unbelievable progress through every one of them.

Today, we are blessed with 7 frequencies and we broadcast, 24 hours, to the entire world via internet. We are especially grateful for the ability to reach Haiti with God’s message of hope. Every year, we travel throughout major cities in the United States uniting God’s children via the Citywide Fasting services. We minister to thirsty souls and leave them to the able care of local churches. We host an annual week-long ESPERANS Crusade in Atlanta gathering folks from all over the world in praise and worship to our God. The Lord has also blessed us with the ability to provide humanitarian aid to many in dire need.

We have come to understand challenges as exactly what they are: Opportunities for God to display His omnipotence. The ESPERANS family has grown tremendously and we continue to face those struggles together. We also celebrate our victories together. The vision of ESPERANS, in full force, our story has just begun to unravel. With God on our side we look forward to a future of great leaps and conquests for the Kingdom of God—a future wrapped in love, a future full of hope!
